Victorian Building Authority Commissioner

The Minister for Planning is inviting expressions of interest in this board position, from suitably qualified and experienced persons.

Applicants will be shortlisted based on high-level skills, experience and knowledge in relation to one or more of the following areas:

  • Building
  • Plumbing
  • Architecture
  • Consumer advocacy
  • Dispute resolution
  • Insurance
  • Law
  • Financial management
  • Public administration and the administration of regulatory regimes

Experience in the following areas will also be highly regarded:

  • Strategic or business planning
  • Public and media presentation
  • Regulatory administration
  • Community engagement



All applications will be assessed against the relevant areas. A selection panel will shortlist applicants and conduct interviews.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to undergo probity checks, including a national police check. They will also be required to declare any private interests and awareness of any potential conflicts of interest. Recommendations of suitable candidates will be provided to responsible the Minister for Planning for consideration. Candidates for the chairperson will also be considered by Cabinet.
