The Minister for Disability, Ageing and Carers, Luke Donnellan MP, is pleased to call for applications for the appointment of a Chairperson and up to 11 members to the newly created Disability Workers Registration Board.

As a member of this newly-created Board, you will be responsible for setting quality standards for the registration of disability workers and their practice. This will include leading a wide-ranging consultation on proposed registration standards and guidelines before submitting these for Ministerial approval. The Board is established under the Disability Service Safeguards Act 2018 and will:

  • accredit training programs that qualify people for disability worker registration
  • assess the probity, qualifications and suitability of applicants for registration
  • oversee the management of complaints and notifications about registered disability workers and disability students
  • monitor compliance with registration and practice standards by registered disability workers.

Your role on the Board will include contributing to disability workforce planning and system improvement by collecting data and maintaining publicly accessible registers, which will allow the public to check the registration status and qualifications of disability workers.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the governance of this new regulator. The roles are remunerated and are appointed for a term of up to three years. The selection and remuneration of appointees is in accordance with the Victorian Government's Appointment and remuneration guidelines.

The Victorian Government is committed to ensuring government boards and committees reflect the composition of the Victorian community. In addition to people with disability, we welcome applications from women, regional Victorians, Aboriginal people, young people and people from LGBTI and Victoria's culturally diverse communities.
