Applications are invited for appointment of psychiatrist, psychologist and community members to the Forensic Leave Panel

The Minister for Mental Health, the Hon Martin Foley MP, would like to invite applications for the appointment of sessional psychiatrist, psychologist and community members to the Forensic Leave Panel (the Panel).

The Panel is an independent tribunal established under the Crimes (Mental Impairment and Unfitness to be Tried) Act 1997 to hear applications for on-ground and limited off-ground leave from forensic patients and residents in mental health or residential services.

Psychiatrist members must be registered as a medical practitioner under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (Victoria) Act 2009 with a speciality of psychiatry and have experience in forensic psychiatry.

Psychologist members must be a registered psychologist under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (Victoria) Act 2009 and have experience in the fields of intellectual disability and forensic psychology.

Community members are appointed to represent the views and opinions of the community. Community members should have qualifications or experience making them suitable to determine applications before the Panel.

Members are appointed for terms of up to four years by the Governor in Council and are paid sitting fees as determined by the Governor in Council.
