Appointments to the board of directors of Mildura Base Hospital

The Minister for Health, the Hon Jenny Mikakos MP, is pleased to invite applications for part time board positions to the Board of Mildura Base Hospital with terms of office commencing from 1 July 2020.

Mildura Base Hospital is a public 165-bed (level 1) tertiary teaching hospital, providing public hospital services on behalf of the Victorian Government to the community of Mildura and the Sunraysia District. The hospital delivers a range of services including Emergency, Maternity, Intensive Care, General Medicine and Surgery, Oncology, Medical Imaging, Pathology, Dialysis, Mental Health (Inpatient and community services), subacute care and a range of Ambulatory Services.

Mildura Base Hospital is currently operated by a private sector operator.  In August 2019, the Victorian Government announced its decision to return operation of the Hospital to public sector management in September 2020 when the current service contract expires. Applications are invited now for board positions commencing from 1 July 2020 to allow for an orderly transition to public management on 15 September 2020.

Safe and high-quality healthcare for all Victorians is a priority of the Victorian Government. Applicants for board directorships must be able to demonstrate and provide evidence in support of the skills they identify in their applications.

These positions provide an exciting opportunity for members of the Victorian public with relevant experience and qualifications to contribute to the strategic leadership of public health care delivery to the community. All applications will be considered however, applicants with expertise in the areas of audit and risk management, clinical governance, corporate governance, financial management and accounting, Law, patient (user) experience and consumer engagement, a registered clinician, or, strategic leadership / executive management will be particularly welcomed.
