AMES Australia is one of the country's largest providers of integrated humanitarian settlement, education, training and employment services for refugees, asylum seekers and newly arrived migrants.

A statutory authority of the Victorian State Government, AMES Australia delivers Commonwealth and Victorian funded contracted services across Australia through a range of partnerships in the humanitarian settlement, education, training and employment sectors; primarily focused on clients who are newly arrived migrants and refugees. 

AMES Australia has a deserved reputation across Australia and internationally for delivering programs tailored to the individual needs of its 50,000 clients annually. 

The Hon. Gayle Tierney MP, Minister for Training and Skills and Minister for Higher Education invites expressions of interest for an AMES Australia Board director role.

Applicants who possess a range of specialist skills and experience and/or have expertise in one or more of the following would be highly regarded:

  • Experience with, or membership of, government or large not for profit boards.
  • Links to communities served by AMES Australia.
  • Leadership and business experience, including the delivery of settlement services under government contracts.
  • High level strategic leadership skills.
  • Strong empathy with and interest in the organisation's programs and the diversity of the Australian community.
  • Proven strong commitment to best practice corporate governance.
  • Capacity and commitment to lead AMES Australia as it consolidates recent significant growth.
  • Proven track record in leading / guiding an organisation as it looks to access new and emerging opportunities.
  • An appreciation of the challenges associated with operating in a competitive environment as a public sector agency.

Board directors are eligible for remuneration in accordance with the Appointment and Remuneration Guidelines published by the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
