Multiple Business and Community Member Positions, Chairs and Deputy Chairs

Now is your chance to become a member of one of Victoria's nine Regional Partnerships. Information about all roles is contained in the attached Position Description. To be eligible to apply you must live in regional Victoria or have a strong connection to one of the nine Regional Partnership areas.

To enhance equality for Aboriginal communities across Victoria, up to two business and community member positions on each Regional Partnership are reserved for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people. In particular, members of local Traditional Owner groups and Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations are sought to ensure that local Aboriginal community interests are represented on the Partnerships.

This is intended as a special measure and is exempt under s12(1) of the Equal Opportunity Act (VIC).

About Regional Partnerships
Regional Partnerships were established in 2016, recognising that regional communities have the best understanding of the issues affecting them.

Regional Partnerships provide the Victorian Government with insights on how to support communities across Victoria to drive change, remove barriers, and take advantage of regional opportunities and strengths.

As a partnership member, you will have ongoing conversations with your community to find out what matters to them. Your Regional Partnership will identify priorities and work collaboratively with Government to drive real outcomes for your community.

The nine Regional Partnerships are:

  • Barwon
  • Central Highlands
  • Gippsland
  • Goulburn
  • Great South Coast
  • Loddon Campaspe
  • Mallee
  • Ovens Murray
  • Wimmera Southern Mallee


Who we're looking for
The Victorian Government is committed to elevating a diverse range of voices through Regional Partnerships to reflect the regions they serve, and is seeking to increase the participation of:

  • women
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • people from LGBTIQ+ communities
  • people with disability
  • people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • young people.

We acknowledge that Regional Partnership business is conducted on Aboriginal lands across Victoria. We are committed to ensuring that all Partnership members are given cultural awareness and sensitivity training, as well as an induction that includes information about the region's Aboriginal communities and histories. We are seeking a combination of emerging and experienced regional leaders for all Partnerships.

Selection Criteria
Candidates must be able to demonstrate, or demonstrate an interest in developing, the following:

  • understanding of the region's communities, strengths and challenges.
  • good knowledge of how one or more of the following topics affects the region: economy, social issues, or the environment.
  • relationship development and collaboration skills, and participation in established networks within the region (particularly across sectors).
  • strong communication and negotiation skills as well as strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • an ability to engage meaningfully with communities and listen to a range of views, and the ability to interpret new and emerging issues.
  • a demonstrated personal commitment to the betterment of the region and a solutions-focused attitude.
  • a perspective that reflects the diversity of the community and adds to the overall diversity of the Regional Partnership.
  • other desirable skills include business, facilitation, strategic planning, and the ability to seek and absorb information from different sources.

Terms of appointment

Business and Community Members, including Chairs and Deputy Chairs, are appointed for up to four years.

Members are reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred while conducting Partnership business.
